Flyfishing on kayak in Callow tuesday 21/04/09

Went out yesterday evening in callow and fished for about 2 hours .Saw a lot of rising trout who were feeding on the surface but mainly just below and seemed to be head and tailin on emergers.used a few olives but they had no interest in them as the predominant fly on the lake seemed to be a tiny chironomid (buzzer) fly ,black in colour that for all the world looked like a tiny black fly . covered a few of these fish but they had no interest in my much bigger olive.

Flyfishing for Pike from kayak

Went out last sunday 19th April to flyfish for pike.Met an experienced pike angler on irish kayak angling site and we fished the whole day with both floating(with heavy fly) and sink lines(with floating fly) .On my third cast I got a small jack pike between one and two pounds.John the guy i was with thought that a lot of the bigger fish may have being spawning at this time. We're going to try it again sometime at the end of may when the bigger fish should be back

Fishing on Corrib

Travelled up to Oughtarard last Monday 14th.it was a very bright day with little or no breeze so buzzer fishing was on the cards.we launched just after 10 and made our way down the lake.didn't stir anything for hours and saw some trout rising but not taking the olives that were recently hatching.we were just breaking for lunch when i got my first of the day a 1lb trout which I promptly returned to the lake. After lunch we had more of the same ,fish rising only to refuse olives and our buzzers not… Continue
